For Prospective, Pre-Dental Hygiene and Transfer Students

The Pre-Nursing advisor facilitates successful progress toward degree by assisting students to navigate the academic arena. Clarification of educational goals and alignment toward career preferences accompany discussions of the student’s academic pathway. Potential applicants to the program are highly encouraged to contact the pre-dental hygiene advisor.

College-Level Exam Program Option

College-Level Exam Program (CLEP) exams are a viable option for satisfying course requirements of the Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene programs. Applicants to and students of a SONDH undergraduate dental hygiene program must consult with a SONDH Office of Students Services advisor regarding the use and limitations of non-graded course equivalencies to meet current graduation requirements.

Students who successfully pass a CLEP exam will be awarded college credit toward a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree and, therefore, will not need to take the respective required coursework.

Western Undergraduate Exchange

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a tuition program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) allowing out-of-state students from specific states a special University resident tuition rate. Please visit the UH Manoa Admission’s WUE page for more details.

For Current Dental Hygiene Students

Academic advising is provided by faculty of the Department of Dental Hygiene. Students in need of advising should call an advisor for an appointment.

All enrolled dental hygiene students are advised to meet with a faculty advisor regarding their progress toward their degree to ensure that all requirements are met at least two semesters before the scheduled graduation date. An application for graduation must be submitted with a degree fee to the Cashier’s Office, QLCSS Room 001. This should be processed during the first three weeks of the semester the student intends to graduate.
