Veterans to Nurses End of Semester Celebration

On December 6, 2017, the UH Manoa Veterans to Nurses Program, along with the Office of Veteran Student Services and Student Veteran Organization, hosted their bi-annual End of the Semester Celebration at Hemenway Hall Courtyard. All UH Manoa student veterans were invited to the event to socialize and relax before gearing up for final exams. The event was also held to celebrate each other’s achievements over the course of the fall semester, and to inform our student veterans about upcoming plans and events. In total, 14 student veterans participated in the End of Semester Celebration.

The Veterans to Nurses program is designed to facilitate veteran student success in the nursing program from admission to graduation and beyond. The program aims to increase the number of BS prepared nurses in Hawaii, improve employment opportunities for veterans, and provide support services. Veteran students participating in the Veterans to Nurses program may enroll in any of the UH Manoa Nursing pathways. Veterans with military medical training and experience may be able to receive academic credit towards completion of a nursing program with the goal to decrease time to graduation.

The Office of Veteran Student Services is a campus resource for veterans and military-connected students at UH Manoa. Our mission is to provide the highest quality support to veteran and military-connected students to equip them with the tools necessary for academic excellence and personal success. Our goal is to simplify the transition from the military into higher education and to support students throughout their academic journey. The office provides a network of university and community resources and services, and has qualified counselors who provide a broad range of services.
