Biography

Abbie J. Neves was born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. She is the mother of four children and two grandchildren. Her interest in nursing was kindled by the caring nurses at Kapiolani, Queens and UCLA Medical Centers when her youngest daughter was hospitalized numerous times for complications related to her major heart-lung defect. Her specialty field is child-adolescent psychiatric mental health nursing. She has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at UH NAWSON and served as a preceptor for graduate students. She has completed a year of play therapy training. She has also completed a year of training as a Forgiveness Facilitator with the Stanford Forgiveness Project. She has been an active member of the Evidence-Based Service Committee with the Child-Adolescent Mental Health Division. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Theta Kappa honor societies.
