Biography

Connie Carreras is the Complex Area COVID-19 Resource RN for the Leilehua-Mililani-Waialua complex area. She graduated from a community-based baccalaureate nursing program at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. She also holds a minor degree in Psychology.

She traveled as a registered nurse in the continental US where she spent many years honing her nursing skills in both large teaching hospitals and small community-based facilities. She gained extensive experience working in different hospital specialty areas, such as general medicine and surgery, telemetry, bariatrics, and transplant. Connie worked as an emergency room nurse for seven years prior to her transition to the school setting. Connie is passionate about health education, wellness promotion, and disease prevention. She is in training with the Nurse Coach Collective to become a certified nurse coach. Connie is also a trained COVID-19 contact tracer. Because health care providers are capable of delivering expert guidance, support, and care to the school population, Connie believes that having a health care provider in school will enhance the community’s ability to demonstrate resilience in the midst of this pandemic.
