Dr. Jane Misola is a Veterans Affairs Nursing Academic Partnership (VANAP) faculty with UH Manoa Nursing for the Undergraduate and the Graduate Entry Program for Nursing programs. She teaches Physical Assessment, Complex Nursing and Leadership, Evidence-Based Practice and End-of-Life Care.

She is a Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN-E) with extensive clinical practice in adult intensive care nursing. She is a qualified ELNEC (End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium) trainer. Her research focus is instrument development to assess healthcare attitudes on life-sustaining treatments. She has served as a manuscript reviewer and is an abstract reviewer for healthcare presentations.

She is actively involved in promoting nursing, both in the recruitment of potential students and in mentorship for the academic advancement of clinical nurses. She participates in the Hawaii State Center for Nursing partnership for Academic Progression in Nursing (APIN).

Dr. Misola’s professional memberships include Sigma Theta Tau International, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association, and Nurses Organization for the VA.

Her experiences from various military family relocations have enriched her cultural knowledge and understanding of its significance to nursing. She enthusiastically shares with her students, the lessons she learned as a member of a military-connected family. She hopes that they will remember these lessons in their clinical practice. She is multilingual and is fluent in a few ethnic dialects.
