Jeanette Gilbert is the Kau-Keaau-Pahoa Complex Area Support Registered Nurse on Hawaii Island serving all DOE schools and students in the area. She will be working closely with her complex area team of Hawaii Keiki nurses. She has been an RN since 2013 when she graduated from University of Hawaii Hilo with her BSN. Before accepting the position with Hawaii Keiki, she worked in several rural health clinics on Hawaii Island, serving keiki through kupuna.
Prior to her work as an RN, Jeanette used her previously earned bachelor’s of science degree in geography in her work within the National Park Service (Oregon, California and Hawaii) as a federal wildland firefighter specializing in prescribed fire management, and as a wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responding to medical emergencies on the fire line and during Search and Rescue operations.
Jeanette is passionate about giving back to her island community, which she has called home for 20 years by helping families and children learn healthy habits to build a happy and healthy future. In her free time, Jeanette enjoys spending time in nature with her husband and daughter.
