Students and Alumni Recognized by National and Local Healthcare Organizations

Outstanding University of Hawaii at Manoa nursing students and alumni were recognized at the Healthcare Association of Hawaii’s 2014 Awards and Scholarship Dinner on Saturday, November 8, at the Koolau Country Club. HAH serves as Hawaii’s advocate for a comprehensive and financially strong healthcare system that successfully responds to our diverse and changing health needs.

photo of alumni award winner Special congratulations to our alumnus Andi Kubota, RN, MSN, MBA, PNP, NE-BC (Manoa ASN ’90, BSN ’92, MSN ’94) of Shriners Hospitals for Children – Honolulu who received the 2014 HAH Leadership Award. UHM Nursing is very proud of our fantastic alumni who are recognized for their contributions to nursing.

The following UH Manoa Nursing students received 2014 HAH scholarships:
Baccalaureate student Michele Brailo (Wahiawa General). Masters students Miki’ala Stulen (The Queen’s Medical Center), Christina Hoang (Diagnostic Laboratory Services), and Emily Lucente (Wilcox Memorial Hospital). Doctorate student: Debbie Harrison (Castle Medical Center).

The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), a national organization of nurses who design, facilitate, and manage care, selected five UHM Nursing students to receive its prestigious scholarships for 2014. AONE provides leadership, professional development, advocacy, and research in its effort to advance the nursing profession and patient care.

The following UHM Nursing students received 2014 AONE scholarships:
Baccalaureate students Anne Figueira and Sharolyn Kaui. Masters students Trisha Hironaka and Yee Wing Wong. Doctorate student Jennifer Chee.
