HealthCAST (Collaborative Acting Simulation Training) is a partnership between NAWSON and the UHM Department of Theatre & Dance. Through HealthCAST, actors perform as patients or their family members receiving simulated care at THSSC. The actors, or simulated patients, also provide feedback to the healthcare students following each simulation.

HealthCAST supports simulation scenarios across the undergraduate and graduate nursing curricula, as well as interprofessional simulations. Five graduate theatre students perform with HealthCAST as part of their teaching assistantships. HealthCAST also recruits and coaches theatre and dance students, as well as community volunteers. HealthCAST is always looking to grow and innovate; new collaborations include partnering with the makeup and scenic design departments to increase the realism of the simulation experience.
