Golden Scholars, Class of 1964 Held 50th Reunion Luncheon at The Willows

In honor of the Class of 1964’s 50th year reunion, 15 alumnae were recognized as UH Manoa Nursing Alumni Association (UHMNAA) Golden Scholars at The Willows Restaurant on June 12, 2014. Sally Ishikawa, president of the UHMNAA presented each alumnae with Golden Scholars medals.

Nursing alumnae and guests enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet while reconnecting with friends and colleagues. Several alumnae flew in from the mainland and neighbor islands to celebrate the momentous occasion. A surprise appearance by former pediatric nursing instructor, Mrs. Shuku Najita, was a highlight of the day since the alumnae had not seen her for 50 years. As a hallmark of generosity and kindness exemplified by this Class – many brought flowers, homemade gifts, and class memorabilia to share including pins, black and white photos, medals, and graduation programs.
