Two Hall of Fame & Two Outstanding Young Alumni Honored, Chapter Raises $28,700 for Scholarship
On Thursday, March 1, 2018, the UH Manoa Nursing Alumni Association celebrated its 4th annual Endowed Scholarship Fundraiser event at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii. More than 230 guests attended to honor the two 2018 Alumni Hall of Fame inductees Nancy Atmospera-Walch and Gloria Fernandez. This year, the alumni chapter recognized two Outstanding Young Alumni recipients Christine Loui and Kevin Wu.
Additionally, nursing student scholarship recipient John Nuez spoke about the impact of scholarship. The alumni chapter raised $28,700 to support nursing endowed scholarship and student awards.
Nancy Atmospera-Walch, DNP ’17, MPH, BS ’77, AS ’71, RN, LNHA, MCHES, CCHN, CMC is the President and CEO of ADVANTAGE Health Care Provider and AIM Healthcare Institute. Gloria Fernandez, DNP ’15, MS ’11, PHNA, RN, is the Quality Assurance Coordinator with the Hawaii State Department of Health – Public Health Nursing Branch. Both join the UH Manoa Nursing Alumni Hall of Fame.
Christine Loui, MSN ’11, APRN-Rx, ACNS-BS, is the Staff Development Coordinator at Sutter Health Kahi Mohala. Kevin Wu, MS ’11, MBA, BS ’05, BS, RN, CHO, NHA is the Administrator at Palolo Chinese Home. Both are the inaugural UH Manoa Nursing Outstanding Young Alumni.
