The award honors individuals who develop and lead impactful partnerships with the school-based health care field. We sought out nominees—from the education, health care, public health, and related sectors—who demonstrate innovative strategies and dedication to collaboration to bring comprehensive quality health care services to schools.

This year, we are delighted to recognize Mary’s work in developing and leading the Hawaii Keiki: Healthy and Ready to Learn Program, a partnership between the Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) and the University of Hawaii at Manoa Nancy Atmospera-Walch School of Nursing (NAWSON), that supports the DOE to achieve student, school, and system success through school-based health care services.  We applaud Mary’s efforts to address individual and population health, as well as her success in increasing children’s access to medical care across Hawaii. Mary’s thoughtfulness, innovation, and strong advocacy for children are inspiring.
