Biography
Dr. Sinclair has more than 30 years of experience in the nursing profession and has held positions as a pediatric staff nurse, pediatric clinical nurse specialist, and nurse educator. Dr. Sinclair began her nursing career at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh with a focus on pediatric surgical/transplant nursing where she spent 20 years providing nursing care to children on a variety of units. She has been on faculty at UH Manoa for more than 10 years.
She currently teaches didactic and clinical courses in the undergraduate and Graduate Entry Program in Nursing (GEPN) programs and is a course coordinator for the Nursing Care of Children course in the GEPN program. Dr. Sinclair especially enjoys teaching clinical where she has an opportunity to guide and influence students to provide safe, high-quality, evidence-based nursing care and develop confidence and competence as they advance in their nursing education.
Dr. Sinclair became a member of Sigma Theta Tau International as an undergraduate student and has since served as a board member at UH Manoa as Counselor and Vice President. She has had the opportunity to present podium presentations at Sigma conferences in Australia and the Czech Republic on the topic of health-related quality of life for children. She maintains certifications in pediatric nursing and pediatric advanced life support.
