Community Partnerships Aloha Reception
On October 5, 2016, UH Manoa Nursing hosted a Community Partnerships Aloha Reception at The Pacific Club to honor COL (Ret.) Stephanie Marshall as she retired as the director for community partnerships and welcomed Dr. Katherine Finn Davis as the new director for community partnerships.
Stephanie Marshall, MS, RN, FAAN, the school’s first Director for Community Partnerships retired after 10 years of dedicated service to the school, university and healthcare community. From 2006 to 2016, Stephanie was responsible for building and managing innovative and strategic academic practice initiatives across the public and private sectors. Among the initiatives she led was establishing the successful VA Nursing Academy (VANA) partnership of UH Mānoa Nursing, Pacific Islands VA Health System and Tripler Army Medical Center, the first VANA to unite Department of Defense and VA at the regional level. She built formal partnerships with multiple health care organizations including The Queen’s Medical Center, Straub Hospital and Clinic, and numerous community based agencies to support research and clinical education. She led the effort to create and build the UH Translational Health Science Simulation Center, a shared community resource for interprofessional learning, that today serves local students and agencies as well as schools from the Pacific Region.
Katherine Finn Davis, PhD, APRN, CPNP, joined UH Mānoa Nursing as Director for Community Partnerships in September 2016. She brings over 20 years of experience as a pediatric nurse, nurse practitioner, and researcher. Dr. Davis is skilled and passionate about leading interprofessional teams to implement research and evidence to inform clinical practice at the bedside and in the community to improve health outcomes and quality of care. Her interests include implementing innovative approaches to embed evidence based practices in healthcare settings. She is a fellow of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International. She received doctoral and master’s degrees from Emory University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
