Dr. Davis’s focus is on developing collaborative relationships between universities, healthcare systems, and government agencies to implement strategic responses to community and nursing workforce needs while engaging the community to inform NAWSON academic programs and initiatives. Her research interests include translational science focused on implementing innovative approaches to embed evidence-based practices in healthcare settings.
Frances A. Matsuda Chair in Women’s Health

Frances A. Matsuda Chair in Women’s Health and Associate Professor
Dr. Fontenot’s scholarly focus is on promotion of health for women and adolescents. Her key areas of interest include communication about vaccines, cancer prevention (with a particular focus on HPV associated cancers), sexual health, and health disparities. Her research, in collaboration with colleagues across disciplines, has been funded by federal and foundation grants, including the National Institutes of Health, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, the American Cancer Society, the Department of Health and Human Services, and Merck.

Lorrie C. Wong

HMSA Distinguished Professor, Director of UH Translational Health Science Simulation Center & Associate Professor
Dr. Wong’s career has focused on educating a healthcare workforce prepared for the challenges of the ever-evolving healthcare industry. She is internationally recognized for her work in simulation-based learning and is passionate about integrating technology and simulation as teaching methodologies. Dr. Wong’s focus is on integrating Interprofessional education (IPE) team-based collaborative practice into curriculum for UH health profession schools. She received her Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator – Advanced (CHSE-A) certification in 2014. She has received training grants and contracts from healthcare and higher education institutions.

Continuing Education
To receive continuing education credit, the participant must register and attend the activity, claim credit commensurate to their participation in the activity, and complete an evaluation form.
This activity, to be held on June 22, 2021 has been designated for a maximum of 1.0 contact hours. The Hawaii State Center for Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
This presentation provides the UH, greater Hawaii community, and national counterparts an opportunity to learn more about the NAWSON endowed professorships such as donor intent as well as the recipient’s area of past scholarly work and planned future endeavors.
