Biography

Lauren Deming is an Assistant Instructor at the University of Hawaii Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene and a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of combined experience across diverse clinical settings. Her advanced practice background includes college health, urgent care, pediatric urgent care, and mother–newborn couplet care. Prior to her role as an APRN, she practiced as a Registered Nurse in emergency trauma pediatrics, general pediatrics, orthopedics, and humanitarian nursing.

Throughout her career, she has remained deeply committed to teaching and empowering current and future healthcare providers through evidence-based practice and education. She has extensive experience teaching across clinical, didactic, and simulation learning environments and has supported critical care education as a nationally certified Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) instructor.

Her work has been recognized through awards for excellence in patient care and for leading successful quality and process improvement initiatives that enhanced continuity of care. She is particularly passionate about the wellbeing, empowerment and health of our pediatric and young adult populations.

Beyond academia and clinical practice, she volunteers at a local nature preserve in support of community healing and wellness and teaches Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses to promote community education and preparedness.
