Global Health Fall 2019 Highlights: Health and Human Services; World Health Organization

Kristine Qureshi, PhD, RN, CEN, PHNA-BC, FAAN, associate dean for research and global health, was part of the UH team that met with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Deputy Secretary Eric Hargan. Qureshi provided an overview of nursing in the US Affiliated Pacific Islands and the work that the UH Manoa Nursing is doing in the region.

World Health Organization representatives visit UH Manoa

Dignitaries from the World Health Organization – Western Pacific Region visited UH Manoa on September 26, 2019. The visiting delegation included Takashi Kasai, MD, PhD (Western Pacific Regional Director) and Jeffery Kobza (Director, Administration & Finance for the Western Pacific Region). The Nancy Atmospera-Walch School of Nursing was represented by Kristine Qureshi, PhD, RN, CEN, PHNA-BC, FAAN, associate dean for research and global health. The group discussed key issues relative to the Pacific region, including the impact of climate change on health, current advances in telehealth and alternative ways to think about and approach global health issues.
