Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset Supports Hawaii DOE Student Health

Over the past 4 years, the Hawaii Keiki: Healthy and Ready to Learn program has received more than $12,000 in total awards from the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset to help enhance the state of its clinics and provide assistance with purchasing necessary supplies that benefit students across the State of Hawaii. Each Hawaii Keiki nurse determines what specific supplies they think will best support their students based on which school site they are located at. The donation funds are equally distributed to all of the locations.

Funds have been spent on various items including educational materials such as books, sticky notes, and stickers as well as health room accessories like fans, air purifiers, posters, chalkboards and bulletin boards. Medical necessities such as wheelchairs, heating pads, and safety goggles were also purchased. With COVID-19 in mind this year, a lot of items were purchased to help aid in controlling the anxiety associated with the pandemic. Donated funds were used to purchase posters about proper hygiene practice, signs of distancing regulations, mindfulness games and books.
