SNA Mentor Mentee Program

The Mentor-Mentee Program (MMP) is run by the Student Nurses’ Association and serves as a support network for UH Manoa’s nursing student community. The program is designed to help new and current nursing students take on the challenges of nursing school by pairing new students (mentees) with seasoned nursing students who act as mentors.

For a mentee, the mentor is a resource for study advice, clinical recommendations, and more. The mentor helps to navigate through challenges that they have already overcome. Those who sign up to be part of MMP in August participate in the program for the full academic year. There is an additional sign up opportunity at the beginning of the spring semester. The goals for the program are to help nursing students succeed academically, and to foster friendships and encourage participation in SNA activities. Organizers remind students that nursing school is a challenging journey that is made exponentially easier with friends, fun, and self-care.

The fall 2019 Meet & Greet was the first time mentees and mentors met in person. Participants were greeted with food, advice columns, and a social space to mingle and discuss their concerns for the upcoming semester.
