Biography
Dr. Monica M. San Jose is the Business Operations Manager for Hawaii Keiki: Healthy and Ready to Learn. She has been with Hawaii Keiki (HK) since April 2023. Her primary responsibility is to lead and oversee HK operations and procedures. As a key member of the senior management team, she establishes policies that promote a culture of excellence through operations. She manages the non-clinical administrative team and is responsible for the program’s efficiency. In addition, she is the lead contact for University Health Partners (UHP), the employer of HK staff and the University of Hawaii’s practice partner.
Before coming to Hawaii Keiki, Monica was a leader in education. She consulted with business leaders and the Merchant Marines in the NYK Shipping Line in Yokohama, Japan on skill development for certifications. She was a founding member of the Upper School at the Island Pacific Academy in Oahu. She was a student advisor and teacher at the International School of Manila (ISM), Philippines, at the Singapore American School (SAS), and at Hawaii Preparatory Academy (HPA) in Waimea, Hawaii and she was a Professional Learning Community Leader for the middle school department at SAS and the K-8 Education Program Leader and a Curriculum Leader at HPA. She most recently served as the Senior Education Manager at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum.
She is a veteran United States Naval Officer with experience as a shipboard department head. She supervised sailors in the fields of electronic maintenance, radio and visual communication, navigation and administrative support. While living in Singapore, she provided administrative support to the US Embassy, specifically supporting the President of the United States and the Secretary of State at an APEC Summit Meeting. She earned a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Organizational Change Management from the University of Southern California, a M.S. in Education from The College of New Jersey’s Global Program and a B.S. in General Science from the United States Naval Academy.
