Biography

Samia Valeria Ozorio Dutra is a nurse from Brazil who received her Ph.D. from the University of South Florida (USF). Dr. Dutra contributes to gut microbiome research since working on National Institutes of Health grants at the USF College of Nursing-Biobehavioral lab in 2017. Dr. Dutra studies gut microbiome focusing on mental health promotion and neurodevelopment. Her experience includes a comprehensive understanding of mental health, women’s health, oncology (breast cancer), and gut microbiome (Omics). She taught women’s health for 5 five years at Potiguar University in Natal, Brazil. Dr. Dutra also has an interest in instrumental technology, as can be seen by her dissertation research. Her dissertation was an international collaboration between the United Kingdom, United States, and Brazil.

She also participated in the Florida Fulbright chapter, which promotes international goodwill through student exchanges in the fields of education, culture, and science. It is the largest U.S. exchange program for students.
