Nursing Participates in Health Discussion with US Surgeon General

The U.S. Surgeon General, Rear Admiral Jerome Adams, visited the University of Hawaii at Manoa during his tour of the state. The US Surgeon General met with faculty, staff and students from the medical, public health and nursing schools at a meet-and-greet event on July 31, 2019.

Dr. Kristine Qureshi, PhD, RN, FAAN, CEN, PHNA-BC, Associate Dean for Research and Global Health Nursing, represented UHM Nursing in a smaller roundtable discussion regarding Pacific Island health, hosted by UH John A. Burns School of Medicine. Key leaders in Pacific Island health were in attendance to discuss current challenges and successes of our programs. Qureshi explained the challenges faced by nursing in the Pacific Region. She also addressed the strengths that nursing brings to the table.
