Providing Vaccines at No Cost to HIDOE Students at Select Schools

Vaccines for Children (VFC) is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability to pay. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) distributes vaccines to programs such as state health departments and local public health agencies which in turn distribute them at no charge to primary care offices and health clinics registered as VFC providers.

Hawaii Keiki: Healthy and Ready to Learn has partnered with the VFC program to bring vaccines to keiki. Two pilot sites are currently active with a focus on providing vaccines on school campuses in an effort to reduce the burden on parents. Future plans include expansion to additional sites across the state.
